Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use IndieCrate, we collect:

• Account information: information provided by Google or GitHub when you sign in, such as your name, display name, email address when available, and provider account identifier. The authentication system also stores the session and provider-account details needed to keep you signed in.
• Profile information: your IndieCrate display name and, if available, a profile photo. When you first sign in, the app may fetch and store a copy of the profile photo supplied by your sign-in provider. You can replace it from your profile.
• Submitted content: app names, taglines, categories, stories, screenshots, and icons that you submit.
• Community activity: the apps you like and the time-related records needed to manage submissions, likes, accounts, and sessions.
• Essential browser storage: authentication cookies or similar session mechanisms needed to keep you signed in. IndieCrate also stores your light/dark theme preference in your browser. The app currently does not include advertising or visitor analytics tools.

2. How we use information

We use this information to:

• authenticate you and maintain your signed-in session;
• create and show your profile and approved app submissions;
• review, organize, edit, and remove app submissions;
• record likes and show community like counts;
• secure, troubleshoot, and maintain the service; and
• respond to questions, requests, or legal obligations.

3. What is public

Approved app submissions are public. They may include the app name, tagline, category, story, screenshot, icon, like count, and the submitter's IndieCrate display name. Pending and denied submissions are shown in the submitting user's private profile view and are not included in the public browse experience. Do not submit information that you want to keep private.

4. Sharing information

We share information only as needed to run IndieCrate. Google or GitHub process information when you choose to sign in through them. Hosting, database, authentication, and other service providers may process information on IndieCrate's behalf. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the service and its users, or in connection with a change in ownership or operation. We do not use your information to sell advertising.

5. Your choices and deletion

You can edit your display name and avatar from your profile. You can edit or permanently delete apps you submitted. Deleting an app removes its associated likes from IndieCrate. The app does not currently provide a self-service control to delete an entire account. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of account information, email support@indiecrate.build.

6. Retention

We keep account, session, profile, submission, and like information for as long as needed to provide IndieCrate and maintain its records. When you delete an app, its app record and associated likes are removed through the app.

7. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No online service or method of transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as IndieCrate changes. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
